December 1st

This month we want to make sure that our preschoolers know that God showed the
world how much He loves us by giving us Jesus! This week they see this when they
learn about how God sent an angel to tell Mary she is going to have His son, Jesus.

Lead Their Growth: While on the go, look for babies and baby things. How many
different baby things can you find? When you’re done, talk about how God sent an
angel to tell Mary she was going to have a baby named Jesus. Jesus is special because
Jesus is God’s Son.

ELEMENTARY

God prepares the way for Jesus! 

Bible Story: Luke 1 (After centuries of waiting for the King God had promised, Zechariah and Elizabeth have a son who is filled with God’s Spirit from a young age and prepares the hearts of God’s people for Jesus.)

Main Point: God prepares the way for Jesus!

Key Verse: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”—Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

Lead their Growth:  Ask, “How did God prepare the way for Jesus?” Remind your kids that God sent many special messengers to His people to prepare the way for Jesus! As you countdown the days until Christmas, encourage your kids to memorize Isaiah 9:6.
