February 9th

This month, we get to tell preschoolers that Jesus loves them. Jesus loves their family. Jesus loves their friends. Jesus loves everyone! This week they see this when they learn about how Jesus chose Matthew to follow Him. Matthew was a tax collector who took too much money from people and he wasn’t very liked. But Jesus loved him because loves everyone.

Lead Their Growth: Add toy cars or people to bath time. Encourage your child to make them follow each other along the edge of the tub and through the water. Talk about how Jesus told Matthew to follow him. So, Matthew got up and followed Jesus!
Lead Their Growth: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: “Good morning, [child’s name]! Are you ready to follow me to the kitchen for breakfast? And we can follow Jesus by loving everyone the way Jesus loves everyone.”

ELEMENTARY

Bible Story: John 14 (Shortly before His death on the cross, Jesus prepares His disciples for what lies ahead, comforting them and teaching them that He is the way to God.)

Main Point: Jesus is the way to God!

Key Verse:  “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness. They will have that light. They will have life.” —John 8:12

Lead their Growth: Ask, “How does Jesus make a way for us to be with God?” Remind your kids that Jesus died on the cross and came back to life so we can be close to God now and forever!
