October 5th

This month, we want our preschoolers to know that the powerful God who is always with us and can help us be brave. Even the most fearful of us can be strong and courageous with God! This week the preschoolers will see this when they learn about how Queen Esther had to go to ask the King for help, knowing that it could cost her life. Esther knew that in order to be brave she needed to ask God for help. God did help her to be brave and it saved the life of Esther and all of God’s people.

Lead Their Growth: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, thank You for making [child’s name] to be brave. I pray that whenever they are afraid, they will pray to You about it so you can help them be brave.”

ELEMENTARY

God saves! 

Bible Story: Genesis 37, 39-50 (Jacob’s son, Joseph, is sold into slavery and wrongfully imprisoned. Yet God is with him, and Joseph rises to influence in Egypt, where through him, God saves His people from famine.)

Main Point: God  (point up) saves! (cross your wrists like you’re in chains, then bring your wrists out and to the side like you’re breaking them) 

Key Verse: “LORD and King,” (Place your hands on your head like a crown) you have reached out (Reach out your arm) your great and powerful arm. (Flex your arm)  You have made the heavens (Sweep your arms up and overhead in a circle) and the earth.(Sweep your arms down and in a circle.)  Nothing is too hard (Shake your head no and cross your arms in an ‘X’) for you. (Point up.) —Jeremiah 32:17

Lead their Growth: Ask, “Can you think of a time God turned something bad into something good?” Consider making homemade lemonade with your child this week, and remind them that God can take bad things (like what Joseph’s brothers did to harm him) and bring good out of it (like how Joseph was able to save many people from the famine!)
